The series went the full seven games, with the Cardinals winning the crown in dramatic fashion at Sportsman's Park. The clubs had split the first two games in St.

Louis before heading to Fenway. Red Sox ace Dave "Boo" Ferriss got the start in game three, and he didn't let the home fans down, tossing a brilliant six-hit shutout, winning 4-0.

Rudy York provided the punch, belting a 3-run homer off Murry Dickson in the first inning. Game four took a different turn, as the Redbirds routed the Sox, 12-3. Joe Garagiola and Marty Marion each knocked in three runs for St. Louis, and Enos Slaughter homered. Bobby Doerr was the lone bright spot for Boston with a home run. The Sox went up three games to two in the series with a 6-3 win in game 5. Joe Dobson went the distance to earn the win, while Al Brazle was tagged with the loss. Boston's Leon Culberson had the only four-bagger in the game. The program has photos and bios of all of the players on both teams, and there are photos and lengthy articles on the two managers - Joe Cronin of Boston and the Cardinals' Eddie Dyer. The scheduled starters for the Redbirds - Red Schoendienst, Harry Walker, Stan Musial, Slaughter, Whitey Kurowski, Terry Moore, Garagiola and Marion. The Boston lineup - Wally Moses, Johnny Pesky, Dom DiMaggio, Ted Williams, Doerr, York, Mike Higgins and Hal Wagner.
