1905 World Series Game 4 Program - From the 2nd ever played World Series. Played at the Polo Grounds in upper Manhattan, New York between the New York Giants (NL) and the Philadelphia Athletics (AL). Both left men on in scoring position in the early going. With the game kept scoreless until the bottom of the 4th, Sam Mertes led off the inning by reaching on an error committed by Monte Cross. Bill Dahlen flied to right and Art Devlin grounded out moving Mertes to second.
With 2 outs, Billy Gilbert singled to left, bringing Mertes home to score what would be the game's only run with McGinnity outduelling Plank, giving the Giants a 3 games to 1 Series lead. This rare and complete example shows a centralized vertical crease that is from being folded in half as well as a lighter pair of creases that are placed equidistant.
There are no loose or missing pages with the only writing found in the program to be on the centerfold scorecard which was scored in pencil. Both front and back covers also show corner rounding as well as some light to moderate surface scuffing. The program displays extremely well for a publication of this vintage and is a solid complete example. Please feel free to message us with any questions.
